World-Traveling Couple Nets $1,000 Prize For Drone Video

A Slovakian couple is $1,000 richer after their drone video took home the prize in a weekly video contest.

Martin Víglaský and his girlfriend uploaded their video “Montenegro - the land of beauty” to AirVuz.com. After being selected as a nominee for the Drone Video of the Week contest, the couples’ footage of Montenegro was voted as the best of the week and earned them $1,000.

Víglaský said the couple both quit their office jobs to pursue a life of travel. In December of 2017, they bought a DJI Mavic Pro drone to help enhance their travel footage. Now the duo can say they are award-winning aerial cinematographers.

The winning video was the culmination of a month-long trip through Montenegro. Víglaský said they had been wanting to visit the Balkan States for quite some time and finally made the trip in May of 2018. To avoid large crowds while flying the drone, Víglaský said he woke up early in the mornings to be able to fly without the worry of other people.

This video of Montenegro is just one of many from the Balkans that is featured in a curated collection on AirVuz.com. More aerial footage of the Balkans, including Croatia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and more can be seen here.

As the winner of the Drone Video of the Week contest, this video of Montenegro is automatically eligible to win the Drone Video of the Month award for the month of July. The monthly contest awards a total of $2,500 in prize money, including $1,000 to the winner.

The Drone Video of the Week contest follows the success of the inaugural AirVuz Drone Video Awards, which selected the best drone videos and photos of 2017. Voters chose winners in 13 categories from a total of more than 33,000 videos.
